Meet The Team

Steph

My name is Steph and I am the founder and Principal Practitioner of Wild Hooves. I am a Social Worker and certified Equine Assisted Psychotherapist practitioner specialising in nature/adventure based, experiential, EMDR and trauma informed approaches from a relational perspective. Surrounded by my boys on the team, I feel grateful everyday for being able do what I love and call it my job.

Texas

Texas is the star of the show at Wild Hooves. He was the first member of the team at Wild Hooves and without his willingness and natural ability to connect with humans, Wild Hooves would never have existed. He is a 10 year old Paint x Stock Horse with so much love to offer and wisdom to give. Texas has his own story of trauma that he willingly shares, offering the humans around him insight into the possibility of being able to heal and trust again.

Brave

Brave is Texas’ best friend and paddock mate. He is a 4 year old Paint who is still learning how to horse, however is following in the hoof prints of Texas. Brave’s cheekiness, playfulness and curiosity always brings laughter to the humans around him as well as important learnings that can be transferred into our own life. Just as his name implies, he sure does teach us how to be Brave.

Mate

Mate is the life of the party at Wild Hooves. A 2 and a half year old Blue Heeler, there is never a dull moment when around him. Whilst he is often getting into trouble for being the ‘class clown’, Mate is an expert at reading the emotions of the humans around him and knows when it’s time to play and when it’s time for a much needed snuggle.

Oakley

Oakley is our more mature member of the team, a 5 year old Kelpie with wisdom and empathy beyond his years. Oakley also has his own story of trauma to tell which has enabled him to offer unconditional love, gratitude and an empathy like no other to the humans around him. A sweet boy with an old soul, Oakley is often keeping Mate in line, curled up sleeping on his favourite chair or demanding all of the pats.
